Meetings

Based on the advice from the Town of Cobourg and the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit, face to face meetings at Victoria Hall have been cancelled until further notice. In order to stay connected and to keep you safe during the pandemic, monthly meetings are taking place by Virtual Zoom webinars. You can join by desktop or a laptop computer, tablet or smart phone!

Cobourg and District Historical Society Meetings are held every month except May, June, July, August and December.  Meetings are held in the Citizen's Forum in Victoria Hall on the fourth Tuesday in the Month.  Meetings start at 7:30pm but coffee and cookies are available starting at 7:00pm.  Meetings are $5 for non-members and free for members of the society and students.

Special Guest James Cockburn, Tuesday May 26th, 2015, 7:00pm
Meet at 66 King East;  Tickets $10 - BUY NOW!

Join us for a social evening to mingle with other members one last time before the summer months.

Do you have a box of old love letters your great grandmother wrote?  Or perhaps some wartime correspondence from an ancestor?  Or a postcard of note from a great aunt?  Or maybe you've been doing some research and have come across a letter that has a local historical connection?  This event is a chance to share interesting letters and correspondence from your family's history!  Bring along a letter or other correspondence that you would be willing to read aloud.  Rob Franklin, in character as the Hon. James Cockburn, will be our guest for the evening.  He will get us started by reading a brief excerpt of correspondence written by this Father of Confederation.  The microphone will then be open to anyone with an interesting piece of correspondence to share with the group.

Tickets are $10 and include regular coffee, tea and delicious petit-fours.  Wine, beer and specialty coffees will be available for purchase, but are not included in the ticket price.

Only sixty tickets are available for this exciting end-of-the-year social event, so don't miss out!

Tickets are available for purchase from Carla Jones no later than Friday May 15th.
